Energy Digitalization Hackathon
IBTECAR consulting and German Jordanian university in the partnership with several national and international universities and institutions have organized the Energy Digitalization Hackathon 2020 as a part of Global entrepreneurship week. The event was sponsored by Orange Jordan and the Peer to Peer Energy sharing as well as Saxeed.jet Project and the DAAD. The hackathon aimed to find solutions that employ digital transformation concepts for energy sector challenges in Jordan and to bridge the gap between the research outcomes and the electricity network needs with the applied digital innovation.
The hackathon took place online during the period from the 16th to the 23rd of November. It started with an online Webinar organized in cooperation with EDAMA Association. Following that and during the week two parallel phases took place; trainings for technical and non-technical topics phase and working on the challenges phase. Design Thinking training were delivered and coaches provided the support through the whole phases to help the teams to come up with a clear vision for challenges and solutions. Besides that some trainings related to Internet of Things, Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence with the focus on energy solutions were delivered to enable the participants gain the basics of technical knowhow to develop their ideas.
On the last day judging panel took place and selected three winning teams, the team Neurotech won at the first place with an impressive idea that aims to solve the electricity outage for refugees’ camps. Team two and Zero co2 team won the second and third places respectively. The winners will get the amounts of 1500JOD which are sponsored through Orange Jordan and will have the chance to attend more advanced trainings to help them develop their projects.
